Modular digital communications system - uses shut=down signal transmitted between transmission and reception interface controls to prevent data collisions

The communications system has peripheral appts. groups, each with an associated interface control (SS-A,SS-B) and contained in a respective housing with a communication link (UEB) between them. A shut-down signal (ABO) is transmitted to indicate the end of a transmission, the interface control at the transmission end providing a blocking signal (SP) preventing further information exchange and transmitting the shut-down signal to the interface control at the reception end, via the communication link. The received shut-down signal is used to generate a stop signal (SSS) signalled back to the transmission interface control with resetting of the blocking signal. ADVANTAGE - Ensures separation of successive transmissions.
