The stereoscopic endoscope consists of a main lens (1) of long focal length, a magnifying system (2) and eye pieces (4). A rod-shaped optical system (6) is joined by a coupling piece (5). The optical system (6) contains an object side lens (6.5), a rear imaging lens (6.4), a field lens (6.3), front imaging and field lenses (6.2, 6.1). An axial air gap of 1.5 mm exists between the object side lens and a glass intermediate piece. Images of the observation field (22) are produced (20, 21) in the optical system (6). Both left and right optical paths pass through the same system (6). A CCD receiver can be assigned to the latter. A TV camera can be used to record the images. ADVANTAGE - Combined optical paths in lens system permits use of narrow-bore endoscope probe producing good resolution and depth of focus.
