Ash particle solidification and removal for a coal-dust fired gas-turbine installation - by partial cooling of combustion gases by injection of pass-out steam, water, or air
Ash particle solidification and removal for a coal-dust fired gas-turbine installation - by partial cooling of combustion gases by injection of pass-out steam, water, or air
Installation has combustion chamber (1), with a gas turbine (14) installed after the combustion chamber. Gas is produced under pressure in the combustion chamber by burning coal dust (3) in air, ashes are removed as molten particles suspended in the combustion gas and the combustion gases are let down in the turbine. Cool liq. (18,19) is introduced into the combustion gas prior to it entering the turbine (14), so that the cool liq. treated molten particles are converted to the solid state. Milled coal dust (3) is sprayed (2) into a combustion chamber (1), by compressed air (5) from a compressor (4) to give temperatures of 1200-1700 deg.C, pref. 1300-1700 deg.C, the chamber is cooled by a steam raising coil which feeds a two stage (7,8) steam turbo-generator (6;6a). The ash-bearing combustion gases from chamber (1) are coarse separated in cyclone (11) before passing to a quench unit (12) which cools the gas to 850-1200 deg.C pref. 1100-1200 deg.C. USE/ADVANTAGE - Coal-dust fired gas turbine installations. Fused ash deposits on gas turbines and filters, etc. are eliminated.
