A holder has a receptacle for matching the external shape of a specific plug and a latching device in the side of the receptacle with a reciprocally movable latching pin (5) with which a plug inserted into the receptacle can be latched. The latching pin can be moved into the latching position by a rotatable eccentric element (7) on a drive rod (6). The eccentric part is reversibly rotatable and the rod is driven by an end switch controlled motor via a rotor and linkage strap. USE/ADVANTAGE - For testing plugs for latching and/or contact defects, esp. when several units are combined to form assembly.
