Positioning and storing articles in row on holder - using at least two displacement units movable relative to holder and/or unloader for random loading and unloading of different sized goods

The pick-up holder is formed by a channel with L-shaped surfaces with the larger surface inclined towards the horizontal. To reduce friction the pick-up holder has ball or rolling devices. The loading unit has a slider or chute for loading the holder with the articles. A locally fixed or movable lift unit (6) positions the articles for the unloading unit and is used to discharge the articles already set in a row on the holder. The lift unit is pref. L-shaped and capable of swivelling selectively about two different axes at the ends of the lift arms to move the article in two alternative positions. A detector system is provided to detect the shape and dimensions of the individual articles on the holder. USE/ADVANTAGE - Compact design useful as intermediate store in palleting systems in warehouses.
