The measurement liquid, air and a cleaning and/or buffer soln. are fed through a flow channel in a fixed sequence under valve (V1-V4) control and in a continuously repeatable cycle. At least one biosensor is arranged on the flow channel. The presence of the measurement liquid is detected in a specimen container, the cleaning or buffer soln. is sucked out of the channel whilst air then measurement liquid then air again are fed into a preparation section. The prepared liquid is sucked into the flow channel and past the biosensor(s) at constant flow rate to enable determination of the liquid component(s). The flow measurement arrangement is then made ready again by applying cleaning and/or buffer soln. via a third valve (V4) until a defined flow value has been reached as measured by the biosensor(s). The individual steps of the method are performed automatically. USE/ADVANTAGE - For use in medical applications, e.g. for water and waste water treatment. Require only very small quantities of liquid, i.e. no more than a drop.
