Collection of blood from animals, esp. pigs during slaughtering - in which blood is aspired via hose connected to slaughtering knife into collection vessel which is held under vacuum
Collection of blood from animals, esp. pigs during slaughtering - in which blood is aspired via hose connected to slaughtering knife into collection vessel which is held under vacuum
Blood is aspirated via a hose (3) into an airtight collection vessel (1) which is kept under a vacuum. Pref., the hose is fitted with a valve (5), and the collection vessel has at least one vacuum connection point (8) with an isolating valve (9) which is connected by a suction pipe (10) to the vacuum pump. This valve (9) is operated by a level switch (11) which closes the suction pipe when the level of blood in the vessel reaches a set point. This switch has a float (13) consisting of a plastic ball partly filled with heavy material (14) and located in a vertical pipe (15) which has a conical upper end (16). Perforations are provided around the circumference of this pipe, and a support (18) in the form of a bar extending across the pipe is provided beneath the float. The suction pipe is fitted with a moisture separator (19). The collection vessel has a number of connection points (20) which are connected by hoses (3) to slaughtering-butchering knives (4). A cleaning device (21) is located near the collection vessel and contains supports (22) for one or more of these knives, as well as spray nozzles (23) for cleaning and disinfecting them. The collection vessel is provided with an agitator (26), and has a number of perpendicular baffles (28) which project from its cylindrical sidewalls. It is also fitted with a cooling system (29) in the form of a cooling jacket (30) or cooling coils, and is mounted on a transportable base (33). USE/ADVANTAGE - For collecting the blood of animals, and esp. pigs, at the point of slaughtering in abattoirs. The blood is collected and stored in a simple and rational manner and under reliably hygienic conditions.
