The quantifying method is applied to determine the increase or reduction in the handling potential of the exchange for each version of the system programme used by the latter which comprises a number of programme modules handled via a multi-tasking operating system. The processing time duration of the lowest priority programme module is measured by summation of a number of processing intervals and used as an indication of the handling potential. ADVANTAGE - Provides corresponding handling potential values for different operating programme versions to allow direct comparison.
