A tubular housing holds the current converter and load and supply lines for connection to the housing ends (10), which are closed off by measurement lead-throughs (11,12) for coaxial cables. The load and supply lines (13,14) are in the form of coaxial cables. A coaxial mercury relay (16) forms a high voltage switch and is connected into the supply coaxial cable (14). A network for varying the gradient of the switching voltage is associated with the mercury relay. USE/ADVANTAGE - For use with high voltage switch current converters.
