The reader with indicator is provided for a 'chip' card, i.e. plastic card with embedded memory circuit, accessed by a non-contact read/write unit. This has an inductive unit with a primary coil supplied with power to induce a field in the region of the card track. Read/write operations require a specific period for a transfer to be made. The read/write unit has a built in switch (S1) that detects the presence of the card. Any removal of the card is detected and of this occurs before the transaction is complete a new operation is signalled. USE/ADVANTAGE - Signals removal of card before transaction is complete. Cards for telephone, access, banking etc.
