In a process to create or destroy chemical cpds. or bio-materials, the gaseous starting substances or the chemical cpds. which are to be destroyed are held in a gas flow within in a reactor chamber from which the prods. are subsequently removed. The substances are subjected to a brief electrical spark or discharge field which delivers the energy required for the conversion. The process is conducted at a pressure between 90 x 10 power 3 Pa to 110 x 10 power 3, pref.at 10 power 5 Pa, and a temp. of between 15 deg.C and 1200 deg.C pref. between 50 deg.C and 300 deg.C. USE/ADVANTAGE - The process creates or destroys chemical cpds. and destroys biological substances. It is suitable for the small scale synthesis or destruction of substances or the small scale cleansing of effluent process air. The process requires little space.
