Detection and tracking of metal particles in a moving fabric web - has angled detection lines over fabric width to register particle location through time and path gap measurement
To track metal particles in a moving fabric web, two static detection lines are at an angle to each other to cover the whole fabric width, to measure the time or movement gap of the passage of the metal particles. The location of the particles is determined across the fabric movement, and along the fabric width, through the angle between the detection lines and the time or path gap. The position of the metal particles is computed across the line of material travel, or by comparison, in relation to a fabric edge and/or the intersection of the detection lines or their theoretical extensions. The particle position is computed from the measured time gap and the fabric movement speed. USE/ADVANTAGE - The technique is for the detection and tracking of metal particles which may be carried in fabrics, non-wovens, paper or film, either for removal or for marking when further processed to prevent damage to equipment or materials.
