An integrated circuit (IC) is used with a capacitor (K), a diode (D) and a flyback generator which in the most severe circumstances can be triggered by a base-to-emitter voltage of 0.5 V and flyback current of 25 mA. The power amplifier (10) with its complementary bipolar transistors (N,P) has its input and output nodes (BK,EK) interconnected by a resistance of 6 ohms. This ensures the flow of sufficient current during the flyback interval without the p-n-p transistor (P) having to be driven into conduction. ADVANTAGE - Relatively large deflection currents can be achieved with relatively small outputs currents from integrated circuit.
