The working piston (5) is extended by admitting air to inlet, when oil (2) is sucked into space behind the piston from the transparent container. As the working piston touches the workpiece, air is shut off to inlet (1) and admitted instead to inlet (6). The piston rod (7) of the air piston now advances into the oil space (4) behind the working piston and builds up the amplified working pressure. To reverse the working piston air is admitted to inlet (8), when the oil returns to the transparent container (3). USE/ADVANTAGE - Condition of oil is clearly visible. Several cylinders can be connected to one transparent oil tank.
