The plant consists of a continuous prepress (1), a main press (2), and a similar hold-down press (5,9) between the two. The hold-down press has low contact pressure, and its pressure face extends from the discharge gap (19) of the prepress into the intake gap (20) of the main press. A hold-down plate (7) is fastened near the end face of the hold-down press. It extends to within a few millimetres of the contact point (16) between chipboard mat (3) and upper steel band (12) of the main press. A roller mat (8) holds down the plastics band (6) in the hold-down press. USE/ADVANTAGE - For chipboard, fibreboard, etc. Damage to upper cover layer due to fast expression of air, is avoided.
