A thermoplastic component (10) pref. PA or PPO has channels (14) running longitudinally and parallel to each other for conveying and heating fluids. Reinforcement (18) surrounds some of the channels (14) and is embedded so that no contact is made with fluid. The use of the component (10) as a continuous-flow water heater is claimed. Also claimed is a mfg. process in which a preformed reinforcement is placed in a tool and embedded in plastic before location in another tool for complete injection of the body. USE/ADVANTAGE - The component can be used as a continuous flow water heater. Can be used at higher temp. and pressure and withstands increases in both, e.g. diving blockages.
