The switching off and on of the sewage lifting plant depends on the sewage supply. A double acting piston or diaphragm pump is arranged as the feed pump. The working chamber of the pump is divided by the piston or the diaphragm, in a sewage chamber (12.1) for sewage delivery and in an air chamber (12.2) for air delivery, so that the sewage and the air chamber have a varying vol. depending on the position of the piston or the amplitude of the diaphragm. Valves (14,15) are arranged in the sewage pressure line at the chamber inlets and outlets, for the varying delivery of sewage and air. The valves are controllable by the respective pressures in the chambers or electronically (23). An electric motor (18) for driving the plant is also electronically controlled (23) in response to a sensor (20) measuring sewage amount in the outlet line (19). ADVANTAGE - Protected against aggressive sewage and valve strokes reduced to min. and costly collection vessel can be dispensed with.
