The mattress (1) has an esp. sprung core (2) of non magnetic or magnetisable material, esp. latex, organic material, foam, and a casing, pref. of textile material. A magnetic mat (4) with several axially parallel flat induction coils is applied to the surface opposite the sitting or lying surface and pref. to the core or centrally within the core. The central axes of the coils are aligned perpendicularly wrt. the lying or sitting surface. A stimulation current generator connected to the coils is pref. a separate unit not attached to the mattress and having a long connecting cable leading to the coils. ADVANTAGE - The mattress enables magnetic therapeutic effects to be achieved.
