The clamp (1) has a fixed jaw (7) and a movable jaw (9) which is pushed towards it by the wedge (15) to grip the workpiece. The movable jaw consists of a lever which is pivoted (8) about its midpoint (8). The end (13) of the lever remote from the jaw has a thickened region (14) which bears against the sloping surface of the wedge. There are support pads (6) on the side of the wedge near the fixed jaw. There is a knob (35) to facilitate pulling the wedge in and out, and the end (14) of the movable jaw is kept in contact with the wedge by a leaf spring (17). USE/ADVANTAGE - Clamping jaws used in spray painting plant give secure hold but are easy to release.
