The chain has numerous individual links (A,B) in a common travel plane, interconnected and swivelable w.r.t. each other. The inter-engaged, adjacent individual links are hinged together along edge faces orthogonal to the common travel plane, directly forming a rigid unit, transverse to the common travel plane. Pref. each link has a three-layer structure with an inner core (K) and two side portions of identical shape. Each inner core typically has a beak-shaped, downwards curved protrusion (1) starting from the front edge in motion direction, and a downwards and forward bent hook (2), starting from the rear edge. ADVANTAGE - Wide exclusion of undesirable link motion, yet enabling link exchange without special tools.
