Optical conductors (3,4) are set into pins (1,2) which are inserted into an in line coupling element (16). The end sections of the coupling are slotted (11,12) and have tapered lead in sections. The coupling pins are inserted and are retained by the radial force applied over the slotted sections. The centre region has a slightly larger diameter (18) than that of the pin contact region (8). ADVANTAGE - Simple construction for easy mfr. Provides reproducible coupling with defined coupling ratio.
