The apparatus can report information about a caller at the receiver to a given user. User codes and the telephone numbers of potential callers are input and stored in the apparatus. When the facsimile receives data a detector determines the telephone number of the caller. A predetermined data report is transmitted to the user according to the telephone number of the caller when the number matches a stored number.
