The bearing unit allows adjustment of a shaft (3) so as to eliminate any free movement, and comprises radial-load roller-bearings (4, 5) eccentric to the shaft axis (12), so that they are pre-loaded in the radial direction. The rollers (10) run in outer races (8, 9), and on inner ones or directly on the shaft. The outer races are accommodated in a bore (2) in a housing (1) via elastic intermediate material. Two bearings are combined into a single unit (7), their outer races being secured in the bore by a common elastic ring (6) and being of constant cross-section. The axes (13, 14) of the bores in the elastic ring accommodating them are parallel to and offset from the shaft axis. There can be radial protrusions (17, 18) at the ends of the elastic ring, which can have annular grooves (19) in its outside surface. USE/ADVANTAGE - Shaft bearing assembly is simple to produce.
