A coin operated games machine has front panel openings for both coins and banknotes. Internally there is a magazine system (11) for the banknotes (10). Several units can be provided for different denominations. Entry of banknotes into the magazine is made by an actuator (9). At the inlet to the system a banknote checking unit (7) is located. Behind this is a motor driven flexible belt (8). A second belt is positioned in the vertical plane. The banknotes are sandwiched between the belts and a series of rollers (12).
