Drive arrangement for converting rotary motion into linear motion - contains traction drive with gear wheels or pulleys, and belt between main belt and wheel or pulley to produce speed differential
The drive arrangement contains a drive mechanism with shape or force locking traction parts forming a toothed belt (4) around two outer fixed toothed wheels or belt pulleys (2,3), and a drive motor (1). A carriage (10) is linearly movable between the outer wheels to engage both sides of the belt loop. One chord of the traction mechanism is directly in engagement with one side of the toothed wheel or pulley. The other chord produces a peripheral speed difference between the strands of the traction elements. USE/ADVANTAGE - For positioning of linearly movable tools, etc. Drive arrangement enables accurate positioning with high maximum speeds of objects with low inertial wt. without excessive deformation of object.
