The method involves using a shock sensor to cause the changeover into a transport operating mode and to trigger reversion to a stationary operating mode. The changeover to the transport operating mode is caused by the detection of a shock for a defined period (T) by the shock sensor. The time is restarted for each new shock, otherwise the equipment is changed back to stationary operating mode. When the changeover to transport mode occurs the gain in the shock sensitive control loop is increased. In stationary mode the resonant frequency of a shock sensitive assembly is reduced. USE/ADVANTAGE - For reproduction appts of entertainment electronics, e.g. optical appts, when relative movement takes place between recording carrier and sampling device. Enables equipment to be prepared for imminently anticipated shocks using low cost arrangement.
