The file flaps (6) are preferably U-shaped with perforations set in the non-gummed side edge surface of the envelope. They are made of a tough fibrous tear-resistant paper-like foil made from olefin threads so that they can be printed, written on and are recyclable. The flaps can be separated and bent round a folded edge (7) over the side edge. The flaps can have file holes (8). The flaps can be provided at the left or right side edge of the front face or at the top and bottom edge of the front and rear faces. USE- Envelopes etc. can be filed with their contents by the file flaps without damaging the contents.
