The regenerative heat exchanger proposed, which operates preferably on a countercurrent-flow basis, uses as its heat-storage unit or heat-exchange element a net-like structure through which the heat-releasing and heat-absorbing gas (air) flows in alternation. Viewed in the direction of flow, this structure consists of a relatively large number of superposed layers. The structure (24) is preferably manufactured from thin, flexible woven fabric made, in particular, of synthetic material. In a preferred embodiment, the structure (24) is mounted on the wall of a rotating body (5).
