In night, fog and rain glasses, for use in vehicles, the lens is from allyl diglycol carbonate monomer, and is dyed with a new dye compsn. (dye 2040) with the characteristics L 88.32, a + 1.40, b + 82.52, Y 72.95, X 0.4487, Y 0.4686. The dye is applied in the molecular interspaces in the lens heated in the hot dye bath. The lens may be of polished glass, synthetic material or acrylic glass, esp. the synthetic CR39. USE/ADVANTAGE - The spectacles are for use in conditions of poor visibility, e.g. dusk, darkness, fog and rain, and in tunnels.
