The elastically deformable outer lining comprises a rubber hose drawn at one end onto a short guide sleeve whilst the other end is closed. The short guide sleeve is then pushed onto the core sleeve (6) so that a narrow ring gap remains between the two. The rubber hose/short guide sleeve unit is then inserted in an assembly tube (5) and the other end (7b) of the core sleeve is closed by a stopper (8) having an axial bore (9). Compressed air is fed in through the bore and core sleeve into the rubber hose which is pressed against the inner wall of the assembly tube. The core sleeve is then pushed through the guide sleeve into the rubber hose and the pressure then relaxed. ADVANTAGE - No undesired marks are formed in the material web so there is a minimum of waste.
