The method involves forming overlapping conductor strands by radial insertion of soft magnetic segments into a prefabricated self-supporting flexible multiphase winding. The coils of wire and encapsulating resin are impregnated and subjected to compression and tension before the resin is hardened. Shaped coils and rod windings are axially butted together after welding or soldering, making for very compact windings with short connection paths in the winding heads. The soft magnetic segments are inserted radially without deformation. An axially fitted supporting ring guarantees tight assembly without bonding. ADVANTAGE - Magnetic strips or sheets are used effectively even for annular components. Joints can be fusion-bonded without damage to insulation of adjoining conductors.
