A sieve centrifuge consists of a drum in which filtration is effected through a filter sleeve (5,15,25) which is held in place at one end by a disc (4,14,24) and secured at the other by the drum rim. While filtration is in progress the filter sleeve lies on the sieve drum mantle (3). The sleeve is extracted axially for cleaning by releasing the disc, thus reversing the sleeve and releasing the deposited filter cake. The novelty is that a ring element (6,16,26) is secured between the filter sleeve and sieve mantle parallel to the disc. USE/ADVANTAGE - The assembly is a filter to separate solids from liquids. The arrangement speeds filter cleaning by reducing the sleeve removal distance and centrifuge length, and allows the centrifuge to rotate more quickly when the filter sleeve is in the extended position.
