Process of storing missiles filled with liquid fuel and propelled by at least one rocket engine wherein the liquid fuel is modified in such a manner that it forms an electro-rheological fluid and is reversibly solidified for the duration of storage by application of an electrical alternating voltage, or the liquid fuel is modified in such a manner that it comprises a liquid crystalline phase, the lower temperature limit of which lies below the lowest fuel temperature which can be expected during operation of the missile, and that it is reversibly solidified for the duration of storage by heat extraction.
