Pole-mounted cable support system - uses hollow steel column of polygonal section with axial slots to receive hammer head bolts and profiled pressure-plates forming clamp

The support structure for cables/conductors comprises a hollow steel column (1) of e.g. octagonal section (1a, 1b, 1c, etc.) having a double row of axially aligned rectangular slots (3a, 3b, 3c, etc.) at its top end each centred on alternate faces of the section. A threaded fixing bolt (2) for the cable supports has a hammer shaped head (4) profiled to the column section and an external matching pressure plate (5) secured by a nut (2b) to clamp the assembly to the column (1). The hammerhead (4) dimensions are matched to the slot (3a) to allow its introduction to the column interior when after rotating through 90 deg. the pressure plate (5) and nut (2b) provide a stable and permanent attachment. ADVANTAGE - Provides simple low-cost method of attachment for cable carriers which can support considerable load without danger of column face deformation due to wide area of stress distribution at clamp. Double row of slots ensures all bolt-heads have adequate clearance inside column and all fixing is from exterior.
