Shown and described is a floor which is intended for staging events and comprises a multiplicity of platform stands (2) which are arranged directly one beside the other and can each be individually vertically adjusted by a motor. In order to achieve remote controllability while fulfilling the necessary safety precautions, it is provided that each platform stand (2) is equipped with a position sensor (30) which senses its actual extension height and is connected to a central control unit (4), from the operating console (3) of which the vertical adjustment of the platform stands (2) can be controlled individually, and that the control unit (4) which is normally locked can be switched into a ready-for-operation state by a laser-beam arrangement (7, 8), said laser-beam arrangement (7, 8) enclosing the floor (1) at its accessible sides.
