Testing for uring presence is performed by determining the presence of NH3 (Ammonia). Old uring contains 5-100 ppm NH3, which may be readily detected by automatic methods in 50-250 ms. When fresh uring or dried deposits are present, lower concentrations (ppb) are difficult to detect. The proposed method consists of adding a reagent consisting of a urease NaOH mixture or either component to the sorage vessel under test. The reagent may be heated, injected under pressure or vaporised to increase the reaction rate. Thereby the detection time is reduced and accuracy increased. USE/ADVANTAGE - Industrial testing of trasport containers. Automatic measurement is faster given the enhanced concentration of the contamination marker.
