The socket (10) which has an axially extending cylindrical bore (13) with opening at one axial end has in its wall enclosing the cylindrical bore a pair of diametrically opposite slits (18) which extend radially into the bore. The insert head (21) of the push-in part (20) has on its outer face a tapered flange (23) and behind this a ring groove (24). The socket has a U-shaped spring clip (30) with a pair of resilient arms pressing outwards and connected at the ends by a bridging member. The spring clip attached to the socket protrudes by the arms through the slits into the cylindrical bore so that on fitting the insert head the arms spring outwards on contact with the tapered flange to run over the flange and lock in the groove (24) to connect the push-in part with the socket.
