One armrest (4) and the rear support wall (3) are connected together by a triangular baseplate (5). The baseplate has a guide strip on which is guided the carcass connected to the displaceable armrest (14). The carcass can be secured in its pushed -in position by a stop roller (11) fitted underneath and engaging in an indentation in the baseplate. The support plate (15) hung on one side by a web from the fixed armrest is pushed into the inside of the carcass when the sofa is in the sitting position. In the bed position the plate is drawn out to support the extra cushion which is stored inside the carcass until ready for use.
