Hypoxia, i.e. oxygen particle pressure, test appts. comprises a housing (2) with displays (3,4) controls (5,6,7,8,9,14) and at least one probe (10). The housing is connected to microcomputer and printer (14), both integrated or external. Pref. the probe is a Clark electrode which can be heated by a coil coupled to an electrode The display (3) is a barometer with a calibration scale and a liq. crystal display (4) for indicating mm Hg, plus additional optical control elements. USE/ADVANTAGE - The device is used for pO2 measurements in blood or transcutaneously; for monitoring respiratory activity, diagnosis of circulatory diseases and for establishing vitality status before oxygen therapy. Typical applications are supervision of patients during and after surgery; measuring O2 satn. of arterial blood during intensive care; as a capacity test in heart and lung patients; monitoring sports training and rehabilitation etc.. The device is compact; can be made portable or fixed, provides a visual record of the results, is safe and simple to use; gives results quickly and accurately.
