Soldering head for use in modular systesm comprises at least one soldering iron and solder feed movable along the vertical axis (Z-axis) and rotatable about the same axis by means of adjustment drive motors (7, 10, 19, 19'), mounted on the soldering head. The soldering iron (1, 1') and solder feed (2, 2') are fixed on a mounting plate (29) which moves together with a plate (13) driven along the Z-axis by an adjusting motor (10) and one of the plates (13, 29) is provided with a distance sensor, pref. magnetic, relative to the other plate. Two opposite soldering irons (1, 1') are equippped with at least one solder feed (2, 2') each. A freely programmable control for the adjustment motors (6, 6', 7, 10, 19, 16') and for all parameters such as soldering tmep. and time, solder quantity etc. is built into the soldering head. A soldering system incorporating at least one soldering head and a 2-axis (X-Y) positioning system linked to a centralised electronic controller is also claimed. USE/ADVANTAGE - The claimed soldering head is used in conjunction with modular positioning systems for spot soldering of electrical and electronic components and facilitates integration in automated lines.
