The armature laminations stack (3) carrying a multiple loop winding has angularly spaced openings (1) at a defined min spacing (b) and further openings (2) between the first openings and the armature shaft (4) through which the equalisation couplings (b) of second and/or third type are fitted. Each of the second openings is spaced from the nearest of the first openings by a distance (d) which is greater than the sum of all the spacings between the first apertures within each pole.
