The vane pump or motor has a channel (25) for the delivery of the flow medium to the suction side. The channel is cast into the pump body (5) and has a constantly altering cross section. The channel has a first section (51) which runs into a second, strongly curved section (52) which in turn opens into a third section (55). The entire channel is roughly bow-shaped. USE/ADVANTAGE - Hydraulic vane pump or motor uses a relatively hard aluminium alloy for the housing channel to reduce wear and cavitation erosion effects.
