The composter, esp. for kitchen and garden waste, has a collection container adjoining the lower end of the composting space along a common interface having connecting openings so that the composting space and the collection container form a closed system. Pref. the composter consists of of two sections, the collection container being hinged to the composting chamber so that it swivels downwardly when the composter is lifted. The collection container has a side opening, closed by a perforated flap and a perforated top which forms the common interface. The composter is mounted on wheels. ADVANTAGE - The design avoids fume emission while providing sufficient aeration, so that the composter can be located anywhere, e.g. in a backyard or even inside a house. Any liq. is retained in the collection container for periodic emptying and compost removal is required only at 2-6 month periods.
