Personal computer software integrity booting and testing - conducting power-on self-test in ROM-BIOS, loading partition, loading boot sector of operating system partition, starting operating system and kernel, and using one=way hash function for cryptographic key and testing
The software testing method involves conducting a power-on self-test (POST) in a ROM basic input-output system or BIOS. A partition loader is used for the fixed disk in the software, and an operation system boot sector is loaded. The operational system. is started. A one-way hash function is used in the universal peripheral interface (UPI). An integrity tester integrated in the ROM-BIOS tests the integrity of the prim. loader and a security partition after a cold start detected by the UPI and the POST of the ROM-BIOS. A secret cryptographic key on the one-way hash function is placed in a RAM.
