The movable pickup jaw (11) can be set in one open position in which the movable pickup jaw is held open against the closing force of a U-shaped plate spring (20) belonging to a cam control (28). In a second open position the movable pickup jaw is held in an automatically locked open position by frictional resistance with the plate spring. A U-shaped cross-sectional support part (8) has its base (9) fixed to the continuous conveyor chain (1). The movable pickup jaw is movably mounted between the support part sides (10) on a pivot axle (13) crosswise to the direction of travel (F). One plate spring arm (21) rests against the support part base (9). The second arm (22) rests on the movable pickup jaw mounting part (17). USE/ADVANTAGE - The pickup parts of the newspaper conveyor can be variably set and opened for a short time to release the newspapers.
