The system contains optical and/or electrooptical devices near bus stops or stations and route specific traffic detectors, esp. devices for measuring separations, distances, distances travelled, speeds, etc. and identification devices using image detection. Documentation equipment such as input devices are installed in mass transit vehicles, e.g. buses. The data acquired by this means as well as data detected by fixed detectors , including image acquisition equipment, are evaluated in a common evaluation device, after temporary storage where necessary. USE/ADVANTAGE - For use in traffic monitoring for combined monitoring of separations, distances, speeds and defined routes. The system enables reliable selection, detection and documentation of vehicles without geographical restrictions. The data can only be evaluated by authorised personnel.
