The quadrature MRI RF coil arrangement has a helmet shape to match the shape of the human head (102). A pair of null inclination solenoid coils (L10,L12) is mounted inside the helmet structure. One solenoid coil's (L12) longitudinal axis is parallel to a line from the apex of the helmet to the neck of a head inside the helmet. The longitudinal axis of the other solenoid coil (L10) is essentially parallel to a line from one side of the head to the other. Each coil contains printed conductors on a transparent substrate. USE/ADVANTAGE - For transferring quadrature MRI RF signals used to represent spatial contents of human head. Sensitivity to coupling effects is reduced and coil design simplified.
