Versatile method of producing rigid laminar components - by laying together one perforated rigid sheet and one partially plastic material, and pressing the latter so that it enters holes.
A rigid laminar component is produced by laying together one perforated material and one layer of a material with limited elastic mouldability, and pressing the relevant areas of the second material into the holes in the first. The cross section of an example shown has the first layer (1) of a perforated metal sheet which is rolled to form the pattern of holes, all of which have the sam shape and size. The second layer (3) is initially flat and without perforations. ADVANTAGE - The process produces laminar articles with good stress transmission between its layers, despite their low weight. A wide variety of different materials can be used as long as the second is sufficiently plastic for the purpose.
