Multi-purpose metal-working machine - has improved guide system for tool holder slide

A multipurpose metalworking machine has a slide bed with a longitudinal central slit and one or more tool holder accommodator elements (35) at one end, the slit receiving a slide (32) with an advancing device and one or more further tool holders. The novelty is that the slide bed has two steel plates (23,24) which border the slit and which are each joined to two longitudinally extending, depending, on-edge steel border strips (25,26) set back from the slit so that the steel plates (23,24) form a guide edge (30,31) for the slide (32). Also claimed is a similar machine with at least one tool holder having an U-shaped guide with guide strips gripping the edges of the tool holder accommodating plate, the novelty being that the guide strip, which is subject to outward bending, has an inwardly facing retaining edge engaging in a retaining groove in the accommodating plate. Pref. in the first machine, the steel plates (23,24) are joined to the border strips (25,26) by screws (28) and the accommodating element is a plate which is joined, esp. by screwing, to the steel plates and the border strips. USE/ADVANTAGE - Appts. is esp. for straightening, rolling, bending, folding, coiling, pressing and slotting. The first machine is simple, rapid and inexpensive to mfr. and has a simple slide guide structure. The second machine has an improved and esp. strengthened guide which avoids splaying and/or cracking and thus improves machine stability and service life.
