In a double fourdrinier papermaking machine, where the two continuous fourdriniers (2) form a wedge-shaped gap between them at the entry to the pulp water removal stage, a covering belt (11) is at the edges of the fourdriniers (2) to seal the entry gap. Each covering belt (11) is in a continuous loop, passing round two belt rollers (10.1,10.2) to lie on a plane generally parallel to the fourdriniers. The covering belts (11) extend into the gap between the fourdriniers, with a wedge-shaped cross section tapering into the fourdrinier gap. At least one belt roller (10.1,10.2) can slide in relation to the fourdrinier gap. A support bar (12) for the covering belt (11) is on the opposite side to the fourdrinier gap. The surface of the support bar (12) in contact with the covering belts (11) has an e-function or other curved line, seen in plan on the fourdrinier (2) plane. USE/ADVANTAGE - The double fourdrinier assembly is structured to take the inflow of fibre suspension, as a pulp, to carry it between them through a stretch where the water is extracted. The edges of the fourdriniers are simply and effectively sealed at the gap entry into the water removal stage.
